Grief is a natural and deeply human response to loss, not a problem to be fixed or a sign of being broken. While grief is often associated with the death of a loved one, it can follow any significant change or end: a career, a health diagnosis, a relationship, a shift in identity, or a version of life you expected for yourself. However your grief arrived, it deserves space and care.

Grief can show up in ways that are unexpected or hard to make sense of. Common experiences include:

  • A persistent longing for a person, time, or chapter of life that is gone

  • Heavy or conflicting emotions that seem at odds with each other; relief and regret, love and anger, all at once

  • The sense of becoming a different person, or losing a piece of who you were

  • Guilt or regret about things said, unsaid, done, or left undone

  • Feeling disconnected from others

  • Mental fog, exhaustion, and difficulty returning to everyday life

  • Repeatedly replaying past experiences or fearing future losses

There is no right or wrong way to grieve. The grief you hold is unique to you and your relationship to that which was lost

What grief counseling can look like:

Grief therapy is not about moving on, but learning to carry loss in a way that allows you to move forward.

Sessions may include exploring how grief is showing up across your emotions, relationships, and daily life, developing routines and coping plans for especially difficult moments like holidays or anniversaries, and finding meaningful ways to stay connected to that which has been lost.

In cases involving traumatic loss, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy can be used to reduce the intensity of distress when recalling painful memories.

Though the pain of your grief may never fully dissipate, you can learn to hold and honor it while still moving forward in your present life.

Treatment is personalized to each client and will vary based on individual needs.
